Train

Children and adolescents spent a
considerable portion of their time playing video games and as discussed before,
violent video games not only depreciate the mental level and overall growth of
children but also makes them less empathetic towards others. The above-written
statement was proved by researches giving real-life examples in the previous
essay. We all have opinions and throughout our lives, we might find ourselves
spontaneously arguing those opinions but according to most of us, we should
train children and teenagers to re-engage in the real-world to increase
empathy. It’s a foundation for acting ethically, for good relationships of many
kinds. We can train children and teenagers to re-engage in the real world to
increase empathy in many ways and for various reasons which will help them lead
a better and healthy life in future.

If we train children and teenagers
to re-engage in the real world to increase empathy, the amount of exposure to
their minds increases. Exposure to the real world helps young minds build a
personality and a character of how they wish to become in the future. Children
are born with the capacity for empathy, but it needs to be nurtured throughout
their lives. Often the ability to care for others is overwhelmed, for example,
by anger, shame, envy, or other negative feelings. Learning empathy is in
certain respects like learning a language or a sport and all this is only
possible if the growing buds are exposed to the reality. Helping children
manage these negative feelings, as well as stereotypes and prejudices about
others, is often what “releases” their empathy (Weissbourd, Jones; p. 2-5).

“Mental health can be
influenced by our gender, social class race, religious beliefs, and experience
of family life” (Essays, UK.; p. 1; 2015, March 23). The absence of mental
illness and emotional health refers to the presence of a positive mind, giving
you the ability to laugh and “they are able to carry on with their normal
lives” (Jackson-Triche M., Wells K.B., Minnium K., 2002). If children and
teenagers re-engage in the real world to increase empathy, their mental health
will also get benefitted. Coming to the relationship between mental health and re-engaging
the children and teenagers in the real world to increase empathy is, leading
with empathy can help those around us to be sources of support in our lives and
reduce the likelihood of interpersonal conflicts. When we give and receive
empathy we produce the near-magical neurotransmitter oxytocin, which creates a
sense of trust and cooperation—keys to negotiating and resolving conflict,
whether between couples, communities, states, or countries (Ciaramicoli; 2017,
January 11). An important and faithful method to re-engage the teenagers in the
actual world and increasing their empathy is practicing meditation,
particularly compassion meditation. Compassion meditation is a form of
meditation that asks you to focus your thoughts on wishing well-being for
others. A University of Wisconsin-Madison study showed that our brains can be
rewired over time to be more empathetic through compassion meditation. We know
that general meditation is beneficial, but meditating specifically on
compassion helps us to become more empathetic people. Being active listeners
also makes a person more empathetic and improves the mental health of the
being. While passive listening allows a person to hear and react on cue, active
listening involves a person listening to each word, imagining the driving
emotions behind what is being said, and regularly feeding back what is being
heard to the person speaking. It’s too bad we aren’t all taught active
listening from the get-go—turns out the form of listening we usually offer and
receive is more passive than it should be. Active listening encourages us to
tune in—and in doing this, we can connect more deeply. A
University of New Brunswick study found that people who previously reported
feeling misunderstood or not heard found more fulfillment when speaking with a
person practicing active listening. The more you practice active listening, the
better you’ll be at reading a person’s emotions through their words, tone, and
micro-expressions. Becoming an active listener increases empathy levels, but it
also helps to create positive feelings in the person who’s communicating with
us. Micro expressions are the tiny but telling facial expressions that occur
during a fraction of a second (Seward; p. 1-2).

Empathy Is a very important factor
at work. If we educate the children and teenagers to occupy themselves in the
factual world to increase empathy, they will perform better at work by
understanding the requirements of his/her coworkers as well as customers. Even
while communicating with anyone, either a co-worker or a customer, they will
understand the feelings and what people are trying to say even if they don’t
speak up. Other than these qualities, they will also build up the quality of
solving the conflicts very easily and with a greater understanding of people’s
strengths and weaknesses. Predictions of other’s actions and reactions would
also be accurate, which would help them motivate other people and also, people
would get convinced of their point of view easily. All these qualities would
make these children and teenagers future leaders with all the leadership
qualities in them (Loehr; 2014). Work, here, also means the social work. People
with greater empathy tend to spend time helping needy people too. Volunteering
increases empathy and empathy increases life satisfaction. Creating social
bonds with those outside of our immediate social circle and working to enhance
the lives of others helps us to keep the well-being of all people at the
forefront of our thinking. No matter how you go about devoting some spare time
for another, altruistic actions will help to increase your empathy. So, mentor
students through Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, organize a drive for the
American Red Cross, or deliver dinners to the elderly through Meals on
Wheels—or reach out to an individual you know who’s in need (Seward; p. 1-2).

We should teach children and teenagers
to re-engage in the real world to increase empathy to develop their skills by
being exposed to the actual mankind, and to develop the positivity in the milieu.
Another element is, the mental health of children and teenagers enhances and
the status of their mind stays well. Other than these, we should also train the
teenagers and children to be good leaders in the future which will help them to
succeed in the life, socially as well as financially. Hence it is very
important for the children and teenagers to re-engage themselves in the real
world to increase empathy and thus maintain a healthy and positive environment
