I was so pretty. As I said before, it

I decided to write about Samuel Barber because I listened to some of his music before and I kind of liked it.  When I started to search his name he popped up pretty quick so he must be pretty famous.  Samuel Barber was born on March 9, 1910 and died on January 13, 1981.  He was a piano, choral, opera, and orchestral composer, and one of the most prominent composers of the 19th century.  Samuel Barber did compose music has his main job, he didn’t do it as a hobby or a part time job.  Samuel Barber’s most famous piece that I found is “Adagio for Strings”. The first piece I decided to research from Samuel Barber is “Heaven-Haven”.  I listened to two different videos on the piece and one was an SATB composition and one was SSAA.  I really enjoyed both of the compositions, but I think I liked the SSAA a little bit more because the sopranos stand out so much and its a very pretty song.  It is a very short piece the only lasts for about two minutes.  It is a very soft song and its very high.  When I heard the song it made me think of just falling asleep and it made me feel like I wanted to fall asleep it was so pretty.  As I said before, it is written for SSAA and SATB.  The one accompaniment instrument I found for “Heaven-Haven” was the piano.  The overall tone of the piece is very slow and it is very sad sounding, but the actual words are very happy.  The piece is written in English. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8OR3WJFk1Uhttps://www.jwpepper.com/Heaven-Haven/4059481.item The second choral piece I have decided to research about from the composer Samuel Barber is “Agnus Dei” which is probably the most famous of choral pieces from Samuel Barber.  I chose this piece because it was one of the first ones that popped up and I listened to it and it sounded really cool.  This piece stands out to me because of the awesome soprano part that has the melody throughout the song.  This song makes me think of piece before war because the song is nice and soft and smooth in the beginning and then it starts to become intense resembling war.  The piece is written for SSAATTBB (which is the one I listened to on Youtube) with an optional piano or organ accompaniment with some percussion in the background.  The tone of the piece is very slow and sad sounding at the beginning.  Then,  it starts to intensify and get faster and louder towards the middle of the piece.  Finally, the piece starts to slow down and it starts getting softer and softer and sadder until it fades out.  Agnus Dei is written in Latin.  Agnus Dei means Lamb of God and relates to the bible verse John 1:29 which states “Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world.  Agnus Dei kind of based off one of his other pieces Adagio for Strings which he wrote for the another composer for strings.  In setting it to the liturgical Agnus Dei, a part of the Mass, Barber changed the music only a little, and he had his new song Agnus Dei, a vocal adaptation of Adagio for Strings.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOwRW8ee4S8https://www.jwpepper.com/Agnus-Dei/10277924.item
