Dear
Parents,                                                                                     20th January 2018

I am delighted to be writing my first ‘welcome back to school’ letter
as the new Headmistress of Uplands Pre-Preparatory School. I would like to
welcome you back to another great year of fun and learning for your children!  To all our brand new families who have joined
us this year, I would like to extend a very warm welcome.  I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday
and are feeling relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year.

The staff and I appreciate the opportunity to share your child’s
early education experience with you. We are looking forward to a
productive partnership, to ensure your children experience the start to their
schooling careers as positive and enjoyable. We recognise that in order for children
to be successful in school, they need support from both home and school. We
believe that a strong relationship between parents and teachers makes a great
difference in a child’s education. At Uplands Pre-Preparatory School we have an
open-door policy and encourage you to build a relationship with your child’s
teacher and the other staff members.

The
Pre Preparatory Phase is an exciting time for your child in their development,
and we are here to nurture, inspire and encourage them in everything they do. We
strive to create an environment which has a warm, caring, home away from home
feel.

I am incredibly excited about this year!  Last Monday we had our Orientation morning
for our ‘Wooden School’ and ‘Cubs’ classes.  This was a wonderful time for the staff and
myself to meet our new parents and welcome current parents back for another fantastic
year.

Our Pre-Preparatory School has recently experienced some
exciting changes; in July last year we registered Uplands Pre-Preparatory
School with the Department of Social Development and received a glowing report
from them, towards the end of last year our playgrounds were upgraded, this
year we have introduced a uniform for our little ones, we have also opened a
Grade 0000 class and have extended our school hours to cater for working and
busy parents. I can assure you that we will continue to find ways that we can
be even better than we have been before!

We also welcome a number of new staff members to the Pre-Prep
this year. Teacher Natalie Alsworth-Elvey is our new Grade 00 teacher and
Lizelle Muller will be teaching in the new Grade 0000 class.  We welcome two new interns, Jade Rogerson and
Angel Nyembe and they will be assisting the teachers in the classrooms.

On Thursday 25th January at 18:00, we will have a ‘Meet
the Teacher’ evening. There will
be a welcome in the hall and then you will move to your child’s classroom for a
short meeting with the teacher. This is really a worthwhile evening as the
teacher will give you an overview of what you and your child can expect during
the course of the year and also offer you some ideas of how you can help your
child at home.  Our class assistants will
be at the Pre-Preparatory playground to babysit your children while you meet
the teacher in classroom. After the meeting we encourage you to join us at the Sports
Pavilion, at the Oval for a social.  Prego
rolls and Hot-Dogs will be on sale and a cash bar will be available. We look forward
to seeing you all there.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any
queries, concerns or there is anything I can do to help and support you with
your child’s learning and school life.  The
wonderful Pre-Preparatory staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this
school family. We thank you for your support and look forward to a brilliant
2018 together.

Yours sincerely,

Heather
